The Sulha Alliance is hiring an Afghan Women Community Support Officer.

Afghan Women Community Support Officer
Hours: 1 day per week (8 hours per week). Working one day (full) or working two half days a week.
We offer flexible hours that allow you to work alongside family responsibilities and other activities.
Salary: up to £7,500 per year.
Location: This is a home based role. There might be some travel needed and all travel costs will be covered by Sulha Alliance.
Job Type: Fixed Term – 6 month pilot project.
Job Description
The Afghan Women Community Support Officer will support the wives and female relatives of Afghan Interpreters and Locally Employed Civilians (LEC), who worked for the British Army and have been resettled to the UK.
The Afghan Community Support Officer will identify the needs of the wives and female relatives of Afghan interpreters in the UK, and provide direct support or connect them with the support provided by other organisations. This position will also help the Sulha Alliance team with organising community events and programmes.
The Afghan Women Community Support Officer will need to be comfortable working independently and help find solutions to the problems in the community. In this role, you will represent wives and female relatives of Afghan Interpreters and LEC community and Sulha Alliance’s interests.
Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Build relationships with other service providers (like local councils and charities), so we can work together to help the female relatives of the interpreter and LEC community.
Help women in the community find the right services they need. This could be healthcare, educational or working with local councils.
Speaking to women in the community to tell them about the support Sulha Alliance can offer.
Report back to the Sulha Alliance Executive Team on issues facing the community.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience with Afghan resettlement in the UK (ARAP or Ex-Gratia or ACRS or asylum).
Fluency in Pashto and/or Dari.
Understanding of Afghan culture and the needs of Afghan family members in the UK.
Can work and make decisions independently, while working from home and report back to line managers and others as required.
Competent in the use of computers, email, Office 365 and Teams/Zoom, Google and social media administration.
Motivated to improve the lives of Afghan female family members of Afghan interpreters and other LECs in the UK.
Can work from home. (Sulha Alliance will provide a laptop if you require one)
Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience in working with NGO or charities.
Experience with organising events.
Experience in the facilitation and delivery of community-based services and programmes.
Experience with supporting women’s needs.
